Real-World Schema-Relational Therapy
1994 - 2000
During this period, counseling theories increasingly pursue real-world effectiveness and integration of cognitive-behavioral and relational-interpersonal processes. A core influence is the recognition that schemas and core beliefs operate as central engines of change, with practical methods developed to safely weaken maladaptive schemas and cultivate adaptive ones within collaborative, flexible treatment frameworks. Methodologically, there is movement toward practice-based evidence, including emphasis on therapist-context factors, flexible dosing, and diverse provider settings, which help unify research with everyday clinical work.
